Heather Graham's Career Takes A Turn For Kid Comedies

Quality of the work aside, Heather Graham sure knows how to keep busy. Back in 2009 she had four films hit theaters, three of which I’ve actually heard of, one of them being the massive success The Hangover. She even has a number of things in pre and post-production. But even with all this, I can’t help but giggle at the fact that she’s pulling a Brendan Fraser and diving into a kid’s comedy.

As reported by Variety, Graham is set to play Aunt Opal in the film adaptation of Megan McDonald’s Judy Moody series, which is being called Judy Moody and the Not Bummer Summer. The books are about a third-grader, Judy Moody, and her “humorous adventures.” As for Graham’s role, Aunt Opal is being described as “globe-trotting, somewhat nutty personality.” In the film she’ll babysit for Judy and Judy’s brother Stink and I’m sure kiddie hilarity will ensue.

The thought of Graham getting any goofier than in The Hangover is a little daunting. I can’t help but to picture her making an absolute fool of herself a la Fraser, Dwayne Johnson or even Mike Myers in The Cat in the Hat-- he goes crazy and his young costars just watch and look cute. Speaking of kid costars, the nationwide search for Graham’s just wrapped today. Lensing for this one is expected to begin in August in LA.
