Horns Poster Wants You To Embrace Your Demons

Fans of Joe Hill's novel Horns have been anticipating the release of Alexandre Aja's feature adaptation for a while now. Today, RADiUS has passed along a very creepy looking poster for the film, which will open in select theaters nationwide this Halloween. Not only do we have a confirmed release date of October 31, but also confirmation that the film will be released On Demand.

Let's take a look at the poster. It takes a fittingly dark approach, depicting a dark figure with a very large set of horns. At first it seems almost like a shadow or a silhouette, but if you look closely, you can see a sort of chipped paint (or blood?) texture, as though the image has been burned into the background. And there's some usage of negative space along the bottom of the figure, as we see trees set on a hill.

Down near his left arm, we see the words "Embrace Your Demons."

I like that they went with dark and creepy rather than simply splashing Daniel Radcliffe's very recognizable face on the artwork. While that might do well to grab people's attention, the more artistic approach works here, and should succeed in catching the eye of horror fans.

While Radcliffe's face may not be visible on the poster, his name most definitely is. It's featured near the title of the movie below the figure...

A closer look at the font reveals a snake design, which is most definitely appropriate for this story. Radcliffe's character has a way with snakes.

Joe Hill's novel introduces us to Ig Perrish (Radcliffe), a man living in the aftermath of his girlfriend Merrin's (Juno Temple) brutal rape and murder. A year later, people still think he did it. Ig wakes up one morning hungover, to discover he's sprouted a set of horns, which give him the ability to compel people's darkest secrets and desires. He eventually uses this ability to uncover the truth about what happened to Merrin. The film's cast also includes Heather Graham and Max Minghella.

Daniel Radcliffe, director Alexandre Aja and author Joe Hill are set to appear at the RADiUS panel at Comic-Con next week. That's scheduled to take place Friday, July 25, 2014 in Hall H from 3:00pm-4:00pm.

Horns arrives in select theaters nationwide and On Demand October 31, 2014. The runtime is 123 minutes, and the rating has yet to be determined.
