Human Centipede 3 Will Begin Filming In May

Here’s some news to turn your stomach: Plans are afoot for a third chapter in the “illustrious” Human Centipede franchise -- music to ears of horror fans everywhere.

A lawsuit blocking progress on a third Centipede reportedly has been dropped, according to EW.com. The legal battle was being waged by HC writer-director Tom Six and his producing team against series “star” Dieter Laser, who Six had claimed had allowed his ego to grow to “laughably big proportions” and was demanding “unacceptable script changes” prior to the shoot on part three. Wait, there are scripts for these movies?

Laser reportedly walked out on the production with just a few weeks to go before shooting, leading to the lawsuit. But EW says that the parties have settled their differences, and the third Human Centipede is now expected to begin production in May. In addition, they’re claiming that Laser will play a different character than the demented surgeon he portrayed in the first two films. It still will be a lead role, and he’ll be teamed with Centipede 2 star Laurence R. Harvey as duo “with a storyline no one will expect,” according to co-producer Ilona Six.

I know my Human Centipede 3 will be very politically incorrect, but I didn’t want to change anything in the script,” said Tom Six in a statement. “I am very happy Dieter will follow my vision for a full 100% now and know he is absolutely the most brilliant actor I could wish for.”

Yes, brilliant. So, the Centipede movies aren’t my cup of tea (or mouthful of feces), but for those who appreciate Six’s storytelling method, they’re likely thrilled that Laser’s back in the fold, and ready to do whatever it takes to horrify for another installment. The movies don’t make money, so I’m a little surprised that they are even trying to make a third one, but there you go.
