They just don’t make remakes like they used to. Heck, it was only a couple of years ago that our eyes were graced by the cinematic wonder that was The Departed. These days, remakes consist of movies like Friday the 13th and My Bloody Valentine 3D, otherwise known collectively as 101 Ways To Kill Teenagers And Tease Prepubescent Boys With Cleavage.

Mean Magazine and Zune have teamed up to change that. Today marks the release of their very first Cinemash, a collaborative rei-magining project that allows actors and actresses to remake their favorite scenes from their favorite movies.

The first episode consists of Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel (stars of one of supreme leader Josh Tyler’s favorite flicks this year, 500 Days of Summer... in which their characters compare themselves to Sid & Nancy) in the starring roles of Sid and Nancy, with Levitt playing Nancy and Deschanel playing her punk rock boy Sid. If nothing else, it’s an entertaining sight to behold.

This is the first in a line of these remakes, with future episodes including Cheech and Chong reenacting scenes from Tron, Channing Tatum and Charlyne Yi acting out their favorite parts of Dirty Dancing, and Common and Christopher Mintz-Plasse reimagining Training Day.

This series seems like it’s going to be stoneriffic, so make sure check out the first episode over at the MSN.
