Joseph Gordon-Levitt is a hero to many people-- lovestruck hipster girls watching (500) Days of Summer on a loop, independent film fans grateful for an actor committed to them, Inception fans who wish they could rock a vest as well as Arthur-- but it's the gay community's turn to worship him in the latest edition of The Advocate. They got Gordon-Levitt to sit down for an interview that went heavy on his gay roles (Mysterious Skin, one episode of That 70's Show) and any rumors that he might be gay in real life as a result ("I just do my best to ignore all that shit,") but he also revealed a potential upcoming project that might endear him even more to the gay community: a musical.

There's not much to go on here, but complimented on the musical sequence in (500) Days of Summer and his rendition of "Make 'Em Laugh" on SNL last fall, Gordon-Levitt said the following:
I’d absolutely love to do more song-and-dance numbers, so thanks for saying that. I don’t want to spoil it, but there is something in the works, man, and I can’t wait.

Of course, speculation at this point is pretty useless, since he could be working on just about anything-- another music video with Zooey Deschanel, a remake of Pippin, or something totally original. We know he's filming Premium Rush in New York City within the next few weeks, and there's plenty of speculation that buddy Rian Johnson's Looper could find its way onto the schedule as well. Obviously Inception will only raise his value-- that hallway fight scene!-- but if he fits a musical onto the schedule, let me tell you it won't just be the gay community that will be excited.
