I have some great Kasting news for our Cinema Blend readers! (And you guys thought only Bordick could write bad puns). Andre “3000” Benjamin, ½ of the hip hop phenomenon, Outkast, has signed on to star in an untitled movie project this year with a former rapper, Mark Wahlberg. This role follows Andre 3000’s role in Be Cool later this year.
The project could be promising with John Singleton (Boyz in the Hood) directing. However it’s premise is a tad bit confusing. The movie will tell the story of four brothers seeking revenge for the death of their mother. The four brothers will be Andre 3000, Tyrese (Flight of the Phoenix), Garrett Hedlund (Friday Night Lights) and uh, Mark Wahlberg. I’ll assume they’ll explain how Wahlberg could possibly be their brothers.
I'm a big fan of Outkast and I think Andre 3000 could be a surprisingly good actor. With a good director pushing him, maybe this will be OK.
Production is scheduled to begin next week.
