People frequently point to Andy Samberg's Lazy Sunday and Dick In A Box as the features that really acquainted the current Saturday Night Live cast with a new generation of viewers, and while that may be the case, it's really Fred Armison, Bill Hader, Jason Sudeikis, Kristin Wiig and Kenan Thompson who truly turn out the show every week. They're the five players in the majority of sketches, and its through their viewpoints that SNL really finds its voice. In many ways, Kenan Thompson may be the least heralded of the group, but his work in sketches such as What Up With That?, Deep House Dish and Scared Straight have been among the strongest offerings produced the last few years.

Even with all his SNL success though, D2: The Mighty Ducks may still be his most famous movie. That's ridiculous, but with any luck, this new script may reorder the hierarchy. According to Deadline, Thompson is now attached to Party Starters, a script written by SNL scribe Bryan Tucker. It follows a low rent emcee who brings the noise at weddings, catered parties, bar mitzvahs and anywhere else in need of fabricated energy. Kenan's longtime boss Lorne Michaels will produce, who, as we know, is rather hit or miss when it comes to movies. He had his hands in Wayne's World, Mean Girls, Tommy Boy and the vastly underrated MacGruber but also disasters like Stuart Saves His Family and Hot Rod.

Shots don't come around everyday for comedians like Kenan Thompson. He's talented enough; so, let's hope this success will lead to more choices.
