Will Kill Bill 3 Happen? Here's What Quentin Tarantino Says

Some projects are legendary for existing in concept only, but taking a good long while to decide or not they'll move forward or move into the either. Kill Bill Vol. 3 is one of those projects, and Quentin Tarantino knows just how much everyone's been looking to forward to news on whether it's go or no go for launch. While he's not saying yes or no, he has tap danced rather wonderfully around the subject.

While speaking with Variety in order to promote his latest film, The Hateful Eight, Tarantino couldn't help but put out some more breadcrumbs for eager fans to devour. His latest thoughts on the matter of The Bride are as follows:

I've been very non-committal about it, and I'm not committing to it, but I wouldn't be surprised if The Bride made one more appearance before the whole thing is said and done. I've been talking to Uma about it just a little bit. Some of the stuff that I've written and never made it into the movie that maybe I could use and thinking, 'OK, now, thirteen years later, what would be going on with Sofie Fatale, what would be going on with Elle Driver?'

This isn't too surprising, considering that Tarantino always has swaths of material that gets cut before the shooting script even gets locked in, not to mention the bits and pieces that get cut after filming. Also, it's not the first time that Quentin Tarantino has thought about making a new movie including pre-existing material he's already crafted. Though this is only the second project that Tarantino has alluded to following up on in recent memory, the first being that Inglorious Basterds follow-up he had cooking in his head for some time.

Interestingly enough, this recent round of talks involving Kill Bill Vol. 3 seems to have shifted from the original concept for the sequel, which wasn't so Bride-centric when first mentioned. The original concept for the film was supposed to center itself around a revenge play against The Bride by Vernita Green's daughter. Whether the remarks above are a signal that this strategy has changed, or if they're just stray thoughts that Tarantino has had lying around for motivation, are up for interpretation. At this point, we don't care, just as long as it keeps things moving for one last chapter.

While it's fun to see the new and exciting concepts that come out of Quentin Tarantino's mind, the urge to see him return to projects he's promised us in the past is always strong. So long as the man is working actively and keeping himself a couple steps ahead of retirement, we frankly don't care what he puts out. In the meantime, don't forget to seek out The Hateful Eight, which is currently in theaters.
