If you thought the cast to Kingsman: The Golden Circle was good before, then you’re in for a serious treat. The sequel to one of the surprise hits of 2014 began filming last month, and it already had a star-studded cast which includes everyone from Channing Tatum to Elton John. Now filmmaker Matthew Vaughn has added one more A-list cast member to the spy action thriller in the form of The Dude himself, Jeff Bridges. The news was tweeted by Bridges with this familiar pic, teasing his character.
Kingsman: The Golden Circle is shaping up to be one of the most exciting upcoming movies, especially with a cast like this. Jeff Brides will be joining the returning Taron Egerton as the street rough turned Kingsman Eggsy, and Mark Strong as tech support wizard Merlin. The ensemble is rounded out by the likes of Halle Berry, Channing Tatum, and Julianne Moore who will play the villain of the film. This will be a reunion for Bridges and Moore, who starred together in the classic The Big Lebowski and the not so classic Seventh Son. The sequel will also somehow see the return of Colin Firth’s Harry Hart, one of the highlights of the first film, who was thought dead after receiving a bullet point blank to the face.
Not much is known about the sequel's plot, but we do know that Eggsy and Merlin will be jumping across the pond to the United States, where they will meet the American equivalent of the Kingsman, the Statesman. It’s rumored that Channing Tatum’s character will be an agent of the Statesman and it doesn’t seem to be a leap to assume that Jeff Bridges will be as well. Judging by the tweet, he likes to have a drink or two but that doesn’t tell us too much about him. Perhaps he’ll be the leader of the Statesman in a position similar to Michael Caine’s Arthur from the first movie?

The first Kingsman was an absolute blast, and it seems like The Golden Circle will follow suit. I’m really excited for the setting change and to see how the Kingsman interact with the Statesman. Matthew Vaughn will return to direct with a script he co-wrote with Jane Goldman. Kingsman: The Golden Circle is currently in production and is scheduled to be released in theaters on June 16, 2017.
