Though the full primary cast for the American remake of Let the Right One In has been in line for a week weeks now, a few new names have been added as the movie begins production in New Mexico. According to a release from Overture, Elias Koteas, Sasha Barrese and Cara Buono will join Kodi Smit-McPhee, Chloe Moretz and Richard Jenkins in the film, which will have the American title Let Me In.

In the release the CEO of the production company, Hammer Films, is careful to start talking about the two films as very separate entities, and reference forging a "unique identity" for Let Me In. “This project is very personal to [director] Matt [Reeves] as it is to the many passionate fans of the original story,” said Simon Oakes, President and CEO of Hammer Films. “The brilliance of that story deserves to be seen by audiences on a wide scale and we are excited that the pieces are in place to make that a reality.”

With the initial fan outcry in the past and the production going forward whether you like it or not, it'll now be more interesting to see what they do with it, and if it's really possible to have two good versions of the same story, in two different languages, within a few years of each other. I still have my doubts like pretty much everyone, but I'm also too curious to stay away.
