Mere moments after we finished publishing this story about a rumor which has David Tennant and others in contention for the role of Hulk’s alter-ego Bruce Banner in Avengers, there’s this. Now Mark Ruffalo is rumored to be up for the part.

In fact he may be more than just up for the part. Word is that he’s already in late-stage discussions with Marvel about taking on the role for The Avengers. Is it true? We’ll see, but in the meantime Ruffalo just seems all wrong.

Make no mistake, he’s a fine actor. He was fantastic in Shutter Island earlier this year and there’s no doubt that the guy has real acting chops. But pulling off the tortured rage of the Hulk? It’s hard to imagine 43-year-old Ruffalo in that kind of role. Give me David Tennant, Joaquin Phoenix, or just about any of the other names rumored to be in contention for the part.
