Collectively, as a planet full of people, we're still all about Russell Brand, right? The wild Englishman who stole Forgetting Sarah Marshall hasn't exactly done anything in recent years, but every time he's photographed with girlfriend Katy Perry or allowed to show up on a talk show, you have to be glad for his wild card existence. And with Get Him to the Greek coming out this summer, Brand may be on the verge from moving, Sacha Baron Cohen-style, from sideshow novelty to all-out star.

Helping him get there as well may be Arthur, a remake of the 1981 Dudley Moore film that will find Brand playing the playboy who must mary an heiress in order to get his own fortune, only to find himself falling for a working-class girl. THR now reports that Jason Winer will be making his directorial debut on the film, taking the place of Steve Gordon, who was nominated for an Oscar for writing and directing the original.

Before you think they've handed classic material over to a complete newb, know that Winer has directed 10 episodes of the ABC sitcom Modern Family, quite possibly one of the funniest and best-made shows on TV right now. No, that doesn't guarantee anything, but at least we know that Winer and Brand have killer comic timing-- and that can go a long, long way.
