If you were to take all of the stills that have been released for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 in the last two months and made a flip book, I'm fairly certain that you could make an understandable story. Everything we've seen from the film thus far, be it television spots, posters, clips or behind the scenes featurettes, has been dark, explosive and epic. The newest trailer doesn't buck the trend.

Warner Bros. has sent over the first stand-alone trailer for the first half of the two part conclusion, and I'm going to have to start inventing adjectives soon. I've always personally held that Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is the best of the series, but this could very well surpass it. The series is at its best when the creators refuse to be afraid of the darker and more adult elements, and it looks as though director David Yates agrees.

Check out the trailer below.

I feel that at this juncture that I should mention that I'm not a Harry Potter junkie. While I've seen all of the films, I've never been particularly blown away by what they had to offer. They were well made but never held me by the jugular like they have for some fans. Everything that I've seen for The Deathly Hallows, up to and through this trailer has made me rethink my stance. Some of the shots that are on display here are simply breathtaking and the emotional elements aren't phoned in like they are for kiddie films. Unlike the Twilight films, which simply pander to the lowest common denominator sections of its audience, there's an obvious effort here to make something real and brilliant. The job of a trailer is to sell a film to an audience, and boy am I sold.
