Steven Soderbergh’s male stripper movie Magic Mike has plenty of masculine eye candy for the ladies (as you’d expect). Finally, though, the director is making a move to cast an actress who will help lure guys into theaters to check out what is shaping up to be an intriguing feature.

Olivia Munn, the curvaceous former co-host of G4’s Attack of the Show, is negotiating to join Mike as Amber, Channing Tatum’s love interest, Deadline reports. Soderbergh’s film, working from a Reid Carolin script, is loosely based on Tatum’s early days as a male dancer, which is how the G.I. Joe star paid the bills before breaking into acting.

Tatum isn’t playing himself in the film, however. Alex Pettyfer of I Am Number Four has been signed as the lead stripper, while Tatum will play his “mentor” of sorts, the Magic Mike of the title. Soderbergh’s cast also includes Matthew McConaughey (shirtless, we have to assume), Matt Bomer and Joe Mangianello.

Munn has stayed busy since leaving Attack last year. While she always found bit parts in movies like Date Night and Iron Man 2, she’s gradually graduating to meatier roles. She’ll be seen alongside Sarah Jessica Parker in Doug McGrath’s I Don’t Know How She Does It in September, and has signed on to The Babymakers for Jay Chandrasekhar. Will Munn be enough to convince guys to check out a male stripper movie based on Channing Tatum’s life? That’s asking a lot of any actress, but given that it’s a Soderbergh film, Mike might have enough magic to make it work.
