In the oddest news of the week (no wait, that would have to be Michael Richard’s not-so-funny racial tirade at the Laugh Factory), Rainn Wilson from “The Office” is preparing to be a ninja in a feature film. Ironically, it’s exactly the type of unlikely news that Dwight would be bragging about to his fellow cubicle-mates.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Wilson will make his screenwriting debut in Bonzai Shadowhands for Fox Searchlight, which he will also star in. Jason Reitman (Thank You For Smoking will direct.

Reitman describes the film as "'Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon' meets 'Midnight Cowboy'," and adds "We wanted to do something that was more than a light comedy. We feel it could be a movie that had something to say."

The film is about a once-great ninja who is now living a life of mediocrity—kind of like a live-action spin on The Incredibles, minus the superpowers.

Wisely, Wilson is going to get a little help from his “Office” friends. "I am going to take my outline to all of the writers and one by one get their ideas and feedback, and by the end of that, it'll be kick-ass in a way only a ninja can kick ass," he says.
