Watch The First Trailer For Sea Of Thieves Expansion The Hungering Deep

Rare and Microsoft still have big plans for Sea of Thieves. In fact, the developers just let loose a brand new trailer for the game, covering the upcoming expansion pack known as the Hungering Deep. It talks about some of the new locations, new enemies, and new content you can expect from the upcoming Sea of Thieves DLC.

The trailer was posted up over on the official Sea of Thieves YouTube channel. It starts off with a battered up pirate with a missing eye, a missing hand, and two peg legs sitting by a campfire talking about how a pirate's life is wrought with danger. Treasure, gold, skeleton bones, barrels and washed ashore flotsam surround the veteran seafarer.

He talks about "great terrors" from the ocean's deep, and how the ancient monsters have been around far longer the humans who now battle for treasure across the great expanse of uncharted waters. The pirate talks about how in ancient times there were large creatures who would feed on the ancients, and that there were other mystics who were capable of summoning the underwater monsters. One interesting aspect he mentions is that the ancients offered the sea monsters a sacrifice in order to sail the seas undisturbed.

The trailer wraps up by revealing that the Sea of Thieves' Hungering Deep will be available for Xbox One and PC gamers starting May 29th, 2018. So technically you won't have to wait long at all to get your hands on the new expansion pack for the sandbox, or rather seabox, adventure game.

While the trailer itself doesn't showcase the new content, the description in the YouTube video reveals that there will be all new mission challenges, along with the dreaded sea monster that everyone can't wait to encounter.

The thing is, is that this monster is supposed to be able to swallow boats whole based on what was depicted in the trailer. The gimmick for this monster is that Sea of Thieves players may have to throw overboard one of their own and sacrifice them to the monster in order to satiate its hunger. This will obviously create a very interesting dynamic between crews. Will players attempt to stick it out and outrun the monster or will they sacrifice one of their own for safe passage?

I'm sure some players would rather attempt to do battle with the sea monster, but we don't even know if it can be killed or subdued.

In a way, it's good that Rare opted not to reveal the monster in the trailer because it would definitely diminish some of the appeal. However, gamers will most certainly be able to see exactly how big and how dangerous the monster is when May 29th rolls around.

Sea of Thieves is currently available right now for Xbox One and on Windows 10 for PC.
