Scott Pilgrim's Satya Bhabha Cast In Midnight's Children

As I mentioned in my interview with the actor, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World is only Satya Bhabha's third film. The young British actor, who plays Ramona Flowers' first evil ex - Matthew Patel -in the movie, is set to breakout thanks to the role. I don't anyone expected it to happen this quickly, however.

The Playlist has learned that Bhabha has been cast in the lead of Midnight's Story, an adaptation of Salman Rushdie's second novel. In the story, which chronicles India's independence from Great Britain, Bhabha will play Saleem Sinai, one of two children "born within the first hour of independence." Adding a bit of mysticism, Sinai possesses the power of telekinesis, which he uses to find lost children. The film will be directed by Deepa Mehta and Bhabha believes that the film will start production before the end of the year.

A year ago the role probably would have gone to Dev Patel, but then he got caught up in the clusterfuck that was The Last Airbender. Bhabha's role in Scott Pilgrim is quite brief, but the guy does appear to have talent (and a perfect American accent). It will be interesting to see what direction his career goes.
