See What Would Happen If Disney Villains Won

From Snow White and the Huntsman and Mirror Mirror to Grimm and Once Upon a Time, film and television of late has been pretty obsessed with reimagining fairy tales for modern audiences. While these adventures have given Snow White a sword and its TV heroes guns, there's been no change to the standard arc where the good guys always win. But one talented artist has considered what would happen if the villains of Disney's classic fairy tales came out on top, and the results are certainly macabre, but also beautifully rendered.

If you check out American artist and costume designer Justin Turrentine's Deviant Art page, you'll see he's essentially obsessed with Disney movies, offering gorgeous dress designs inspired by Alice in Wonderland, Mary Poppins and even Tron: Legacy, and striking reinterpretations of Ariel, Cinderella, and Rapunzel. But the pics that are raising the most eyebrows are from his series titled "If Disney Villains Had Won." Check some out some highlights of this macabre collection below, thanks to a tip from io9.

Ursula enjoys a celebratory dinner after seizing power from King Triton.

Maleficent shows off her statuary.

Cruella De Vil struts her stuff in her latest custom-made coat, with matching purse.

Though I've long loved Disney films and celebrated each and every time the baddie was thwarted, there's something strangely satisfying about seeing these villainous dames get what they desire. For all their faults, Ursula, Cruella De Vil, and Maleficent were charismatic characters. Yes, yes, they were each the epitome of evil, but you got to admit, they each had verve and style for days.
