Shailene Woodley Is Trapped In A Glass Case Of Terror In New Divergent Photo

Shailene Case

Among the recently released stills for the upcoming feature adaptation of Veronica Roth’s Divergent is this shot of Shailene Woodley as Tris Prior, who's trapped in a glass case that appears to be filling up with water. If you guessed she’s doing some kind of magic trick, you’d be wrong. But seeing and believing do factor into the above scenario. (Check out a bigger version here!)

Divergent is set in Dystopian Chicago where society is broken up into five factions, which determine how people live their lives. The Dauntless faction is all about bravery and facing ones fears, which is how the above scene factors into the story. And we’ll leave it at that, lest we delve too far into spoiler territory. But if you want to see more of the tank scene, check out the previously released trailer… or this GIF:

And speaking of familiar moments from the trailer, moving on to another one of the newer stills is this one, which shows Woodley and her Divergent co-star Theo James, who plays Four in the film.

Four and Tris

Between the sun-set background and the almost-kiss pose, this almost looks like a posed photo, but we know there’s at least one moment in the film where Tris and Four get close on the train…

Less Gif-worthy is the final image, which also happens to show the Tris on a train…

If you’re looking closely you’ll notice one major difference about this image and the one above it (besides the lack of Four). Tris is dressed in gray, which is much more suited for her old faction than her new one, so I’m going to guess this is a shot from earlier in the film. Unless there’s some point where she puts on some of her old clothes, which is possible. Either way, different scene.

The arrival of Divergent seems a lot sooner on this side of New Year’s. Directed by Neil Burger, the film is set to arrive in theaters March 21, 2014.
