TV Stars Tackle Sex On The Big Screen In Conception Trailer

Comedy writer Josh Stolberg (Piranha, Good Luck Chuck) has corralled an impressive company of TV stars for his latest directorial effort, the ensemble rom-com Conception. The film focuses on nine sets of couples with nine different motivations, whose sexual misadventures land them all in the same place: pregnancy. Filling out the sprawling cast are some of TV's most winsome players, including: Friday Night Lights/American Horror Story's Connie Britton, The League's Jason Mantzoukas, Suburgatory's Alan Tudyk, Warehouse 13's Aaron Ashmore, Louie's Pamela Aldon and Modern Family's Sarah Hyland and Julie Bowen. Even David Arquette makes an appearance, playing a kindergarten teacher who is easily flustered by the birds-and-the-bees savvy of his young students.

This sexually frank romantic-comedy seeks to explore the goofy—and sometimes greasy—routes to conception by zeroing in on the night each couple conceives, whether accidentally—as is the case with the flick's naïve teen virgins—or with the use of fertility aids and artificial insemination. Tribeca Films will unleash Conception On Demand next month, but you can get a sneak peek of this neuroses-filled, sex-soaked comedy offering now, courtesy of its quirky trailer. Apparently the road to parenthood is paved with sexual bargaining, marital ennui, blind dates, and sex tapes.

Admittedly this trailer is overstuffed, awkwardly trying to encompass each story line while scoring screentime for each of its noteworthy cast members. The humor suffers with this editing approach, but let's get real: the cast is Conception's biggest selling point. I mean, how often do you get to see so many charismatic entertainers in one place?

Conception will hit On Demand through VOD, iTunes, Amazon Watch Instantly and Vudu on February 24th.
