If you go to the gallery of Transformers: Dark of the Moon images in our Blend Film Database, you will see no less than six images advertising the release date of July 1. Well, if you go to a July 1 screening expecting it to be opening day, prepare to be disappointed. According to Deadline, an inside source has learned that due to positive responses at footage screenings, the newest Michael Bay movie has moved up two days and will now be released on Wednesday June 29th. The new date affects all markets with the exception of Japan and China, where the release date will stay the same.

Given the way the movie schedule is packed this year, opening means absolutely everything and I'm surprised that more movies aren't taking this exact same tactic. Crowds on Wednesday and Thursday won't be as big as those that arrive over the weekend, but it can be successful in the long run. Transformers is sandwiched between Cars 2 (June 24); Zookeeper (July 8); Horrible Bosses (July 8) and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 (July 15). Those extra two days are going to mean everything,
