Karl Urban is heading into the darkness again, not an uncommon place for the roles Urban has taken on. In Lord of the Rings he had to take on the dark forces of Mordor, in Doom he had to take on a dark version of The Rock, and Pathfinder put the actor up against the dark side of critics’ opinions. This time, Urban and Adriana Barraza are joining the cast of thriller And Soon the Darkness, reports The Hollywood Reporter.

The movie is a remake of a 1970s flick, and already stars Amber Heard (Pineapple Express) and Odette Yustman (Cloverfield). Neither Urban’s nor Barraza’s role is specified in the casting announcement, just that the story follows two American girls on a European bike trip. One of the two disappears, leaving the other to try and find her before daylight fades… or, you know, darkness comes.

Not much I can say about this one, since I don’t know the original movie or how the actors will be fitting into the story. My money is on Urban to play the helpful handsome dude that winds up being the bad guy though. Just seems to fit what little I know about And Soon the Darkness.
