Subscribe To Venkman's Love Child To Be The Main Character In Ghostbusters III? Updates
A few months back, while in an interview with Bill Murray, the actor remarked, regarding Ghostbusters III, "Until someone actually creates a great script it’s just hogwash, it doesn’t mean anything." A few months later, Murray talked openly about the project and the script with GQ, publicly bashed Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg and said that the "dream just vaporized." Some might take these quotes as indication that the Stupinitsky/Eisenberg script has been abandoned, but apparently not, as details are still coming out about it.

Bloody Disgusting is reporting from an unnamed source that it will be Oscar, Dana Barrett's (Sigourney Weaver) son, who is the lead character in the third film and it will be revealed that he is the love-child of Dana and Peter Venkman (Murray). The source also says that all four Ghostbusters are officially signed on (the others being Harold Ramis, Dan Aykroyd and Ernie Hudson) and that Rick Moranis will come out of retirement for the film, though there is no timetable just yet.

Take this story with a grain of salt. Again, Murray's comments make it seem as though the Stupinitsky/Eisenberg script disappeared, and while that may not be the case, how do you balance Oscar being the love child and Murray dying in the first reel? Mixing those two elements would create some drama that just shouldn't exist in the Ghostbusters universe. There is, of course, always the option for the studio to move forward without Murray's involvement, but who the hell would want to watch a Ghostbusters movie without Bill Murray?
