Vin Diesel's personal Facebook page has always been a great source for news about the actor's upcoming projects, from the Fast and Furious franchise to Guardians of the Galaxy, but today he's teasing new development on a film that we haven't heard about since 2012: The Last Witch Hunter. Diesel posted the image the image you see above on his Facebook timeline this afternoon along with the message "I will fill you all in later… but this meeting went well."
How do we know this is for The Last Witch Hunter? If you zoom in on the top left corner of the shot you will see that a piece of concept art says the title of the film. Also, the adult sitting with the children in the foreground is director Breck Eisner, who has been attached to helm the action-thrill since March 2011. It's hard to say exactly what the context of the "meeting" is in Diesel's message. Is this the first time that he has met with the director and is getting a sense of his vision? Are they working together and using concept art to pitch something? (Last we heard, the film was set up at Lionsgate-Summit.) Diesel is usually good about keeping his Facebook promises, so it may not be long before we hear more new developments about this movie.
Based on a script by Cory Goodman, who previously wrote the Paul Bettany action movie Priest, The Last Witch Hunter centers on the titular character (Diesel) as he discovers that the island of Manhattan is being overtaken by witches, and he assigns himself the job of putting down the infestation. Eisner is best known for directing 2005's Sahara and 2010's The Crazies, but hasn't directed anything since.
In addition to Guardians of the Galaxy (which debuted its amazing first trailer last night), Diesel also has Fast & Furious 7 coming up - which will now be coming out in 2015 due to the death of co-star Paul Walker. In addition to The Last Witch Hunter, the star is also attached to star in the family-friendly action movie The Machine, which will reunite him with The Pacifier director Adam Shankman.
