Amanda Seyfried Poses In Mock Deep Throat Poster, New Still From Lovelace

Looking at the first official Lovelace poster and photo that accompanies a lengthy NY Times piece, I can’t help but think, “Thank God it’s Amanda Seyfried and not her Mean Girls co-star, Lindsay Lohan.” That's because it means the biographical drama of Deep Throat star Linda Lovelace has a chance to succeed – potentially the way Paul Thomas Anderson’s Boogie Nights raised the bar – and that would never have been the case with a tabloid mess like Lohan in the lead. Here’s the fantastic vintage poster, and a still shot of Seyfried in period garb:

Doesn’t Seyfried look like Rose McGowan in that poster? Maybe the producers missed an opportunity to nab the Grindhouse star for this role? Perhaps so, but Seyfried seems focused and driven as she recounts to the Times how important the part of Lovelace is to her, and how she’s working around the clock to make co-director Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman’s drama soar.

According to the Times, Lovelace will chart the porn actress’s introduction into the adult film industry, her eventual decline, and a 1980s redemption. The directors are surrounding Seyfried with plenty of talent. They tapped their Howl lead, James Franco, to play a young Hugh Hefner, Sarah Jessica Parker just replaced Demi Moore as feminist Gloria Steinem, and the supporting cast rounds out with Peter Sarsgaard, Hank Azaria, Chloe Sevigny, Juno Temple, Wes Bentley, Sharon Stone, Adam Brody and Robert Patrick.

But it’s Seyfried who has risen to star stature, and likely will ensure whether Lovelace rises or stumbles. Again, thank goodness it isn’t Lohan.
