Just like the two stars of his movie, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo director Niels Arden Oplev is riding that movie's success to a career in Hollywood. According to Production Weekly, Oplev has signed on to direct Tobey Maguire in Good People, an adaptation of Marcus Sakey's thriller novel.

Maguire acquired the rights to the novel and will be producing as well, as he did for Seabiscuit back in 2003. The description of the book on Sakey's official site is deliberately vague, so I won't share my theory on what it's actually about until after you read it:

A family, and the security to enjoy it: that’s all Tom and Anna Reed ever wanted. But years of infertility treatments, including four failed attempts at in vitro fertilization, have left them with neither. The emotional and financial costs are straining their marriage and endangering their dreams.

Then one night everything changes. Offered a chance at a future they'd almost lost hope in, they seize it. One simple choice. A fairy tale ending.

But Tom and Anna soon realize that fairy tales never come cheap. Because their decision puts them square in the path of ruthless men. Men who've been double-crossed, and who won’t stop until they get revenge.

No matter where they find it.

My theory is that the happy couple winds up stealing a baby, Raising Arizona style, which hopefully means this movie will also include a car chase centered around a pack of Huggies. OK, maybe not. But I'll hold out hope until someone proves otherwise.
