David O. Russell has a solid track record for making films that cast almost as many of Hollywood’s elite as there are characters for them to portray. And his newest flick is going above and beyond when it comes to roping in the big names.

Deadline reports Michael Peña has been added to the mega cast of Russell’s untitled Abscam project for a non-specified role. Peña, who most recently starred in David Ayer’s End of Watch and Ruben Fleischer’s Gangster Squad, well next be seen as civil rights activist Cesar Chavez in Diego Luna’s biopic and his voice will be heard in the upcoming animated films Hell & Back and DreamWorks’ Turbo.

But Pena isn’t the only big name added, as The Boston Globe dropped the news that Robert De Niro has also been added to the film for a small part. A casino scene that the newspaper was covering was supposed to feature him in it, but due to scheduling conflicts, the actor will instead film his scenes is May. De Niro’s last screen role was also for Russell, in last year’s SIlver linings Playbook, for which he landed an Oscar nomination.

The film, which is inspired by the real-life events of the FBI investigation that lifted the veil on political corruption in the 1970s, also reunites Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence with Russell. And in no real order, the film will also star Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Jeremy Renner, Louis C.K. and Jack Huston. The film is very much in production right now, and is set for a December 25, 2013 theatrical release, just in time for politicians to gather all the coal from their stockings.
