The Rings Trailer Is Creepy, Disgusting And Cool, Watch It Now

Horror franchises have always been a nice little money churner for Hollywood studios. So despite the fact that the last of its previous installments was released 12 years ago, it was hardly surprising when it was announced that Rings would be the third addition to the Ring series. We now have our latest look at Rings, too, as the teaser trailer for the film has been released, and it is as disgusting, creepy and spooky as you'd hope. Check it out below.

Yeah, that trailer looks pretty freaky. As you probably guessed, Rings follows a very similar path to its predecessors. But this time around, it will see Matilda Lutz's Julia watching the legendary cursed video, which means that once you've seen it, you're going to die in seven days time.

As 2002's The Ring and 2005's Ring Two proved, once you watch the video, you then immediately get a phone call sadly informing you that in seven days, a demonic girl named Samara will hunt you down and kill you. Very bad times indeed. It's hardly a picnic in the seven days in between the phone call and your death, too, because during this period, the individual has some rather unpleasant things happen to them.

The above Rings trailer pointed that out for us quite clearly. That's because it showed Matilda Lutz's Julia peeling back the skin on her palm to a rather alarming extent, revealing that there was a tremendous amount of hair where flesh and blood should be. Julia then went on to pull out a humungous hair ball that seemed to be the length of a train track, something that immediately made me wince. I mean, just look at her.

Rings

The release of the trailer comes just a day after we were shown the latest poster for Rings, which gave us a concise and punchy outline of the film's premise.

Based on the 1998 Japanese film Ring, The Ring and Ring Two grossed a combined total of $410.8 million when they were released over a decade ago. But while Naomi Watts isn't along for the ride this time around, the franchise will be quietly confident that its innately creepy premise will fare quite well. Director F. Javier Gutierrez is the one tasked with matching the previous installments, while Matilda Lutz will be joined by Alex Roe, Johnny Galecki and Vincent D'Onofrio. Rings will be released on February 3.
