Mark Felt Trailer: Watch Liam Neeson Take Down Richard Nixon

Back in 1976, the world got what is arguably the definitive film about the Watergate Scandal, with All The President's Men showing how the reporting of Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein took down the Richard Nixon presidency. Now that particular historic event is coming back to the big screen sporting a brand new perspective, as you can see below in the first trailer for Mark Felt: The Man Who Brought Down The White House.

In 1976, the only thing known about Woodward and Bernstein's inside source was that he liked parking garages and went by the name 'Deep Throat' - but a lot has changed since then. In 2005, three years before his death, William Mark Felt, Sr. - a former Special Agent and Associate Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigations - came forward and admitted to the world that he was the one who led the Washington Post reporters to the information they needed to uncover the massive conspiracy playing out inside the American government. Now Felt's side of this massive story is being told in the art of cinema, in a new movie directed by Peter Landesman (Concussion, Kill The Messenger).

Based on the book A G-Man's Life: The FBI, Being 'Deep Throat, ' and the Struggle for Honor in Washington by Mark Felt and John O'Connor, the new movie stars Liam Neeson as the famed FBI agent, and the trailer doesn't hesitate getting to the meat of the subject matter. Not only does he have to deal with the moral quandary of leaking information to journalists about his own government, but he also has to deal with the constant fear of what will happen if he gets caught.

As showcased in the trailer, Mark Felt: The Man Who Brought Down The Government has assembled an impressive ensemble to join Liam Neeson in the historical drama. Diane Lane and Maika Monroe play the actor's wife and daughter in the film, while the supporting cast is rounded out by names like Wendi McLendon-Covey, Ike Barinholtz, Michael C. Hall, Eddie Marsan, Josh Lucas and Kate Walsh. Actor Julian Morris, best known for his TV work on shows like Once Upon A Time, New Girl, and Pretty Little Liars, is playing Bob Woodward in the film - the role previously portrayed by Robert Redford in All The President's Men. It is unclear who is playing Carl Bernstein (portrayed by Dustin Hoffman in the Oscar winning classic), or if he even appears in the movie.

We should be hearing a lot more about Mark Felt: The Man Who Brought Down The Government very soon - particularly if it turns out to be a candidate for this year's Oscar race. The movie will be making its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival, where it will have the opportunity to pick up some steam buzz-wise. From there the movie will almost immediately prepare for release, as it will be heading to theaters on September 29th.
