Full Black Panther Trailer Is Action-Packed, Thrilling And Totally Original

Ryan Coogler's Black Panther will bring Marvel audiences to a corner of the universe that we've only yet caught a glimpse: the African realm of Wakanda, a magical land that everyone wants to reach but only the Black Panther can protect. We saw it briefly at the tail end of Captain America: Civil War, but our hero T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman) will return home to Wakanda at the start of this new adventure, and the full official trailer for Black Panther shows us Wakanda in all of its glory. Give this trailer a spin:

This new trailer for Ryan Coogler's Black Panther starts in a similar fashion to Spider-Man: Homecoming... where a character speaks about all of the things that the MCU has shown us up until this point (flying gods, massive man-made weapons), then flipping it to say that you ain't seen nothing until you have seen what this new movie offers. Only when it comes to Wakanda, and the exploits of Black Panther, that might be right. Critics who have leveled the complaint that Marvel shoehorns directors into their established template need only to look at the distinct colorful visuals and the amazing musical choices made by Ryan Coogler in the lead up to the launch of Black Panther to understand that this is a Coogler joint (in the same way Scott Derrickson and James Gunn have put their own stamps on the Marvel movies they have been able to direct).

But we have seen glimpses of Black Panther before. What does this new one show off? More than anything else, it beefs up the role of Michael B. Jordan's villainous Erik Killmonger, who absolutely gets his own Panther-type suit during his efforts to overthrow T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman) and assume the throne of Wakanda.

In addition, though, we get additional looks at an established Black Panther adversary in Klaw (Andy Serkis), who we first met in Avengers: Age of Ultron -- where he lost his hand -- and who looks to be getting in on the action during one of numerous car chases in Black Panther. Seriously, Marvel directors love putting Chadwick Boseman on moving cars. Is it because the suit looks so sleek when it is in hood-ornament mode?

This trailer likely will be playing in front of Thor: Ragnarok, the next chapter in the MCU (dropping on November 3). After that, it's Black Panther's time to shine, arriving in theaters on February 16, 2018.
