What Megan Fox Considers The Low Point Of Her Career

Megan Fox Transformers

Megan Fox has been part of some of the biggest blockbuster movies of recent memory. While they haven't all been particularly well received critically, the actress says the lowest point of her career had nothing to do with making a bad movie. Fox admits the low point of her career thus far was the movie she didn't make, the third film in the Transformers franchise, which she had signed on for, before being unceremoniously fired. Specifically, it seems that looking back, Fox feels rock bottom was when she had the opportunity to apologize, and, one would think, keep her job, but she refused to do so. According to Fox...

That was absolutely the low point of my career. But without -- 'that thing', I wouldn't have learned as quickly as I did. All I had to do was apologise - and I refused. I was so self-righteous at 23, I couldn't see [that] it was for the greater good. I really thought I was Joan of Arc.

"That thing," for those who might be unaware, was the time that she compared Michael Bay's directorial style to Hitler. Generally speaking, Hitler comparisons don't go over well, with, well, anybody, and in this case, they went over especially poorly with Transformers executive producer Steven Spielberg, who reportedly was the one that ordered that Megan Fox be fired from Transformers: Dark of the Moon. According to what Fox tells Cosmopolitan, she had the opportunity to make amends by apologizing, but apparently, being young and impetuous, she refused. In the end, being self-righteous didn't work out so well for her.

Megan Fox was removed by director Michael Bay and her role as the female lead was taken over by Rosie Huntington-Whiteley as a brand new character. It was the feature film debut for Huntington-Whiteley. Her only other major role to date was as one of Immorten Joe's wives in Mad Max: Fury Road.

On the plus side, today Megan Fox considers all of it to be a learning experience. If anything, she now praises the experience of getting fired and understands it was the right thing to do at the time. By going through the experience she says she learned a great deal, and much faster than she otherwise would have. She clearly regrets both the initial comments, as well as not simply apologizing for them.

While getting fired could have stalled Megan Fox's career significantly, that didn't really happen as Fox has gone on to make several major films following Transformers, including reuniting with Michael Bay who was the executive producer on two Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies. It seems that Bay has certainly put the comments behind him.
