Netflix Has Started Calling People Out For Repeat Watching A Christmas Prince

A christmas prince on netflix

Netflix has worked hard over the past couple of years to get into the game of making original movies, and this year the subscription streaming service inexplicably took on Hallmark's audience with its new movie A Christmas Prince. Apparently, some Netflix subscribers are so pumped about the movie, they have been watching A Christmas Prince every day.

Look, I've seen A Christmas Prince and there are higher quality Netflix movies. Like this flick takes all of the gooey, heart-warming stuff I usually get out of Hallmark original movies and keeps all of the dorky plot antics that are less endearing. Despite starring iZombie's Rose McIver, which was a huge selling point for me, I was bored and will not be watching the movie again. Regardless, people are all over this Netflix original and they are watching again and again, potentially because a. Hallmark movies are too warm and fuzzy and oriented around cutting down a real tree for Christmas or because b. it's precisely so bad it has to be consumed over and over again. Apparently, 53 people have done just that.

Because we can't have funny things, some Twitter users have been complaining about privacy related to the fact that Netflix knows what you are watching all the time. It's become such a thing in the comments thread that Netflix ultimately opted to make a statement about privacy, noting to EW,

The privacy of our members' viewing is important to us. This information represents overall viewing trends, not the personal viewing information of specific, identified individuals.

Most companies on the internet have access to a lot of different data, and we opt in as users when we sign on for a site or service. Which means Netflix knows I've watched pretty much every British procedural available streaming. I'm not ashamed of it, and you shouldn't be ashamed if you've watched A Christmas Prince 53 times either. We all have to choose how we want to spend our leisure time.

Now that A Christmas Prince has all of our attention, I will say, if you don't watch it you may be missing out on knowing exactly what all of the fuss is about. If that isn't enough to entice you to check the holiday-oriented romance out, you can always take a look at Mudbound, which is currently available on the streaming service and recently earned some awards nods. Or check out our upcoming Netflix schedule to see what's streaming at the end of the year. There's some good stuff coming on both the movie and TV fronts.
