Action movies come with their own set of risks, and there are no movies quite as action heavy as the James Bond franchise. While Daniel Craig has filmed his tenure as 007 without much bodily harm, other action stars like Tom Cruise have sustained heavy injuries while working on stunts. It turns out that the 1995 classic Bond installment Goldeneye featured on an set injury, although it was sustained by supporting actor Alan Cumming. Cumming's character Boris meets a grisly end when being frozen to death, and filming the scene resulted in Cumming being trapped under some burning hot liquid nitrogen. As he tell it,
When I was shooting it I had a strap thing around me that held me so I couldn't move when all the stuff started to fall. There were some big lumps of liquid ice, liquid nitrogen at the bottom of the thing, and it landed on my head and I couldn't move. It started burning my head.
Ouch. While fans of James Bond were happy to see Boris go in such a theatrical way, Alan Cumming certainly didn't deserve such a grisly fate. Firemen were eventually called onto set, who had to put the actor out. What an ordeal.
As much as film sets are controlled environments, accidents happen all the time. Alan Cumming's account to EW is certainly a scary one, and it's fascinating to hear it come out now. Cumming wasn't involved in a ton of action scenes while playing the villainous Boris in Goldeneye, so it's surprising that he ended up suffering such a terrifying injury.

James Bond deaths are always theatric, and Boris' was no exception. Although it is way less satisfying to see the flash freezing, considering the pain it put Alan Cumming in back in the 90s.
There have been plenty of major injuries and even fatalities in movies in the past few years. Harrison Ford broke his leg filming The Force Awakens, and Maze Runner star Dylan O'Brien was terribly injured during a grisly accident. Even worse than that, a crew member died on the set of the final Resident Evil movie, and a Deadpool 2 stunt woman also passed away after a motorcycle crash. While being a movie star certainly has its perks, there is a certain danger that can come with the job.
