There's Already Been A Pitch Perfect Reunion (And This Time Jesse Was Invited)

If there's one comedy franchise that has evolved considerably over the course of its short lifespan, it's Pitch Perfect. The series has shifted tone and focus as it has matured, and part of that has involved letting old characters and actors go to make way for fresh blood. That said, it looks like the Pitch Perfect gang remains close, as a reunion recently took place, and it even included Jesse actor Skylar Astin. Check out Anna Kendrick's Instagram post from the reunion, below.

This is not the first Pitch Perfect reunion that we have seen in recent months, but it seems notable because the girls were finally able to get Skylar Astin to join them for a night out on the town. Beca and Jesse may have broken up in the Pitch Perfect world, but it looks like everyone remains tight when the cameras aren't rolling. The Pitch Perfect ensemble recently got together for a picnic, and that photo (which also includes franchise headliners Anna Kendrick and Anna Camp -- who is married to Astin -- as well as Brittany Snow hidden in the background) shows that they remain as close as ever. As the kids say, #friendshipgoals.

It's admittedly nice to see all of these fan-favorite Pitch Perfect actors back together again, particularly with the knowledge that Pitch Perfect 3 omitted Skylar Astin's Jesse and Adam Devine's Bumper from the action. In fact, when asked about the omission last year, Pitch Perfect 3 director Trish Sie explained that the franchise needed to move in a direction that focused on the women, saying:

I think the main purpose was these girls are moving on with their life. Maybe they'll get back to these guys at some point. A lot of people don't end up with their college boyfriend and we wanted it to be about them and their independence and finding their way in the world and moving ahead alone. And it just felt like it was time to make a fresh start.

With all of that said, this photo shows that many of the Pitch Perfect originals remain close. Moreover, Adam Devine opened up to CinemaBlend during an interview for Game Over, Man! earlier this year and noted that he'd be very interested in doing another Pitch Perfect, and that he was almost lured back for a sequel revolving around Bumper and Fat Amy's marriage. If nothing else, it's clear that many of the folks associated with the Pitch Perfect brand seem interested in sticking together if the stars align to make that a possibility for them.

As always, CinemaBlend will bring you more updates related to the future of the Pitch Perfect brand as more information is made available to us. For now, make sure to head over to our movie premiere guide and check out all of the release dates for 2018's biggest films!
