Did Tom Holland Accidentally Spoil Avengers 4 Already?

Peter talking to Doctor Strange in Infinity War

Possible spoilers ahead for Avengers 4**.**

The Marvel Cinematic Universe has enthralled audiences for a decade, but the behemoth franchise is in a particularly exciting place at the moment. All the major characters finally collided in The Russo Brothers' Avengers: Infinity War, which ended in a way no one expected. Because rather than the good guy coming out on top, the heroes actually fell to Thanos, who was able to wipe out half the galaxy with a snap of a finger. Fans have been debating how the fallen heroes might be revived, with many believing that the Quantum Realm from Ant-Man and The Wasp will factor into into the narrative. Now Tom Holland may have accidentally confirmed this in an interview. When speaking about the juxtaposition between Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange and his Peter Parker, Holland recently said:

He has the most difficult lines though. He has to talk about so much Quantum Realm stuff. I just have to talk about, 'Yeah, man, that's awesome!' So mine is easy, but his is so difficult!

Uh oh. It looks like Tom Holland might have done it again. The young actor is one of the worst secret keepers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with Benedict Cumberbatch often attempting to cut him off before they get in trouble. And while it's possible Holland was misspeaking, his slip could have grave implications for the events of Avengers 4.

Tom Holland's comments to Emergency Awesome are sure to excite the legions of Marvel fans out there, who have been debating the future of the shared universe since Thanos' finger snap of death in Avengers: Infinity War. While we saw many of our favorite heroes fade to dust during the film's horrifying final sequence, it seems logical that characters return from the dead in one way or another. Movies like Spider-Man: Far From Home and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 are some of the few blockbusters announced for Phase Four, and it's unclear how those films could function with their stars vanished. And since Doctor Strange found the one possible path of victory in Infinity War, perhaps he knew the Quantum Realm would come to play all along.

Spoiler alert for Ant-Man and The Wasp**.**

While Ant-Man and The Wasp was a capsulated story that ran alongside Avengers: Infinity War, its post-credits scene had major implications for the greater MCU. Scott Lang was experimenting in the Quantum Realm when Thanos' snap occurs, and Hope, Hank, and Janet all turned to dust. This left Ant-Man stranded in the mysterious world, which has been teased to include rifts in time. Ant-Man is going to have to find a way to survive, and many fans were hoping the possibility of time travel could factor into saving Marvel's heroes from Thanos' wrath. This is all speculation at this point, but Tom Holland's possible spoiler opens up some fascinating possibilities for Avengers 4.

Ant-Man and The Wasp is in theaters now, and Avengers 4 will arrive on May 3rd, 2019. In the meantime, check out our 2018 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.
