Somewhere, beyond the sea, The Meg awaits those who dare to swim into its theatrical waters. And with any journey of this nature, there's going to be a sea of opinions and criticisms, as we're coming up on what's probably the last blockbuster of the summer season. If you think that also means it's a prime time to rate and discuss a movie like The Meg, you're clearly fishing with the right equipment.
The critical community has a mostly grim outlook on the film, if current review round-ups are any indication. Not to mention, our own official review was similarly unimpressed, with the following quote being the summation of that reviewer's thoughts:
In the process of attempting to make The Meg a movie full of stupid fun, they forgot to have fun, but stayed square in the lane of stupid.
But critics aren't the only folks with opinions on The Meg, and even that opinion wasn't the sole judgement from our staff's collective thoughts. More on that last bit later, but for now, it's time for us to put the focus on you, the audience.
