Chris Pratt is widely recognized as the star of the LEGO Movie franchise, but he actually holds a fun record in the larger world of the popular brick system. Thanks to his two roles in The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part – Emmet and Rex Dangervest – as well as his parts in both Guardians of the Galaxy and Jurassic World – Star-Lord and Owen Grady – he has more minifigs than any other actor ever. Realizing this, I recently brought all four of these toys to an interview with Pratt and Elizabeth Banks (who reprises her role as Lucy a.k.a. Wyldstyle in the sequel) and what resulted was an amazing off-the-cuff game of Kiss/Marry/Kill:
The domestic press junket for The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part was held in Los Angeles this past weekend, and I decided going in that I would have an extra bit of fun when it was my time to sit down with Chris Pratt and Elizabeth Banks. My plan involved making a joke about Star-Lord’s current status in the Marvel Cinematic Universe – turned to ash by Thanos’ snap in Avengers: Infinity War – and simply asked them what they loved most about being a minifig. What came out of that was a great moment with the two actors, playing an entertaining game with funny results.
Kiss/Marry/Kill, of course, is a game best played with three options available, but Chris Pratt took care of that little problem right before the start of the game. Noting all of the flack that Star-Lord has been getting in recent months, as his emotional actions in Avengers: Infinity War led to the death of half of life in the universe, Pratt decided to just totally boot him out of the equation – going as far as to flick the Peter Quill minifig to the floor.
This left Elizabeth Banks with choosing between Emmet, Rex Dangervest and Owen Grady – and I won’t spoil here what choices she made.
In The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part, Chris Pratt and Elizabeth Banks reprise their roles from the first movie, though Emmet and Lucy are living in very different circumstances. After five years, the once-thriving city of Bricksburg has been reduced to a desolate pile called Apocalypseburg, and while everyone has learned to be more serious and dramatic, Emmet hasn’t changed one bit. This unfortunately gets seriously challenged with the arrival of an alien invader named General Mayhem (Stephanie Beatriz), who kidnaps Lucy and a bunch of their friends, forcing Emmet on a rescue adventure.
