Deadpool’s Colossus Wants To Play Kraven In Marvel’s Spider-Man 3

Colossus in Deadpool 2

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is on a serious roll right now, currently raking in the bucks with Avengers: Endgame's re-release, as well as the newest installment in the property, Spider-Man: Far From Home. The latter closed out Phase Three, and allowed Tom Holland to have his second solo movie, and whopping fifth performance as Peter Parker. But the fandom already has their collective eye on the future, and the inevitable Spider-Man threequel that should arrive in the mysterious Phase Four.

Spider-Man: Far From Home had an absolutely wild ending, which will change the fate of the title character forever. As such, there are already myriad fan theories about what might be coming next for the iconic wall crawler. One of them is that Kraven the Hunter might be the next villain for Spidey to fight, and now Deadpool actor Stefan Kapicic has thrown his name into the ring to play the villain. Check it out.

And with one tweet, the race to play Kraven The Hunter has begun. While there's no guarantee the character will actually be used in Marvel's possible Spider-Man threequel, fingers are crossed that the big game hunter will finally be adapted into live-action in the near future.

Stefan Kapicic is a self-proclaimed comic book geek, so it must be be a dream to do the voice and motion capture for Colossus in the Deadpool franchise. But the 40 year-old actor still has the itch to play a villain, specifically fan favorite Spidey rogue Kraven. He does look similar to the character's typical appearance on the page-- obviously more than he looks like a behemoth metal mutant.

Stefan Kapicic's tweet isn't the first time that Kraven the Hunter has been mentioned recently. Spider-Man: Homecoming and Far From Home director Jon Watts has previously expressed his interest in bringing Kraven to life on screen, although he did admit that the character would bring his own set of challenges to the table. As he put it:

Oh, I would love Kraven. It’s just the trick of how do you do Kraven in a movie?

For those unfamiliar, Kraven is a big game hunter from Marvel comics, who is a typical villain of Peter Parker. The expert tactician and combatant typically views Spider-Man as the ultimate challenge, which would make Kraven the best hunter in the world. The villain has been adapted into a variety of mediums, on the small screen and video games. But he's never made it into a live-action movie. At least, not yet.

While moviegoers haven't been able to see Kraven the Hunter on the big screen yet, there have been a few attempts in the past. The Amazing Spider-Man 2's ending and credits teased Kraven's inclusion, as the Sinister Six were going to be Spidey's foes in the planned threequel. Unfortunately, that third movie never happened, so the famous hunter didn't get to have his time in the sun.

Black Panther director Ryan Coogler was also interested in bringing Kraven into the narrative of his Marvel blockbuster. But that didn't end up coming to fruition, as he didn't have the rights to the character. Instead, Michael B. Jordan's Killmonger became the main villain of the groundbreaking movie. That was probably the right call, as Jordan's performance the character's writing and backstory have been praised since Black Panther became a cultural phenomenon.

Stefan Kapicic has made his feelings known about Kraven, but it should also be interesting to see if/how the Deadpool franchise will be adopted into the MCU. Could his role as Colossus stop him from taking on another character? Josh Brolin is both Cable and Thanos, so who knows what could happen.
