This Week In Trailers: Lucy In The Sky, Aeronauts, And So Much Netflix

Timothee Chalamet in The King

As the summer months come to an end, the time has come for TV and movie fans to look forward to the content arriving in the future. Award Season will come before we know it, and there's plenty of new movies coming to theaters and to stream. Netflix in particular has stepped up its movie production, and this week the streaming service debuted a handful of trailers for its film content. In case you missed any of them (and who wouldn't), we've collected this week's trailers in full below.

Lucy In The Sky

Natalie Portman is a constant Oscars favorite, and it looks like this season is going to take her to space. Portman will be playing Lucy Cola in Noah Hawley's directorial debut Lucy in the Sky. The movie follows an astronaut as she returns to Earth, and struggles to rejoin society and her family. Joining Portman are Jon Hamm, Deadpool 2's Zazie Beetz, Nick Offerman, Fear The Walking Dead's Colman Domingo, and Ellen Burstyn. The movie will hit theaters October 4th.

The Aeronauts

The Aeronauts is an upcoming biographical film by director Tom Harper. It follows Pilot Amelia Wren and scientist James Glaisher, who make discoveries with a gas balloon, which also puts them in jeopardy. It stars Rogue One's Felicity Jones and Eddie Redmayne as the protagonists. The upcoming drama is set to arrive in theaters on December 6, 2019.

Prey

Amityville: The Awakening director Franck Khalfoun returns to the horror genre for Prey, which will hit theaters courtesy of Blumhouse. Jason Blum produce the upcoming horror movie stars Love, Simon actor Logan Miller as Toby, a teenager being put on a deserted island as a form of punishment. But there are others on the island, including a young girl and her potentially dangerous mother. Prey hits theaters September 27, 2019.

The King

Netflix released a slew of trailers this week, although The King seems to have captivated the internet the most. Based off of Shakespeare's plays, the movie follows Timothee Chalamet's King Henry V as he ascends to the throne. But once there, he has trouble trusting the various characters vying for power within his court. The trailer feels quite similar to Game of Thrones, although the cast is strong. Chalamet is joined by Joel Edgerton, Robert Pattinson, and Ben Mendelsohn in the movie directed by David Michod. The King will become available October 11th.

Tall Girl

Netflix's latest romantic comedy comes from director Nzingha Stewart. It focuses on 16 year-old Jodi Kreyman, who is the tallest girl in her school, thus excluding her from dating and other social experiences. Jodi is played by newcomer Ava Michelle, with a cast rounded out by The Office's Angela Kinsey, Steve Zahn, and Private Practice alum Griffin Gluck. Tall Girl will become available to stream September 13th.

The Laundromat

Netflix's The Laundromat trailer also made a splash this week, with a zany tone and killer cast. From the mind of Steven Soderbergh, the biographical dramedy follows Meryl Streep's Ellen Martin as she attempts to expose a Panama City law firm and its shady dealings. Gary Oldman and Antonio Banderas are those quirky lawyers, responsible for the shady dealings of millionaires. The cast also includes Sharon Stone, David Schwimmer, and Jeffrey Wright. The Laundromat will be available on September 27, 2019.

Do any of these trailers getting you pumped to head to theaters? Or better yet, to stream them from your home or device? Netflix isn't slowing down its movie production, with plenty of major talent signing up to bring streaming movies to the masses. This even includes Meryl Streep, who also moved to TV with Big Little Lies.
