Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: The Last Jedi

When Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge opened its very first location at Disneyland, a lot of the cast of the movies were on hand for the event. Among them was Luke Skywalker himself, Mark Hamill. The actor recently posted a picture of a bust that can be found in the new theme park land of his character, which led to a discussion of his time spent at the park. While he had a great time, there was one minor downside.

In a Twitter conversation with actress Yvette Nicole Brown, Hamill admitted that, while he loved spending time with fans, he basically spent his entire time at Galaxy's Edge taking selfies, leading him to remark that, if he ever goes back, he may do so in a very familiar disguise.

So if you're wandering around Battu anytime soon and you see somebody who looks a little short for a Stormtrooper, it might be Mark Hamill. Still, you should probably leave him alone so he can enjoy the new theme park attractions.

While Mark Hamill is probably having some fun here, it wouldn't be the craziest thing in the world if he actually did wear a costume to avoid being noticed. Celebrities have been known to do such things. Of course, most of the time that happens it's actually at a comic con or similar event. Disneyland costume policies actually prevent Mark Hamill from wearing a Stormtrooper helmet in the park, though I'm sure he has enough pull to work with the park on that.

For what it's worth. the post that led to the idea of Luke Skywalker in disguise was an image of a bust of Luke Skywalker found at the landf, which Mark Hamill didn't think resembled him all that much.

Of course, the punchline is that any lack of resemblance to the real Luke Skywalker is entirely intentional. The idea behind Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge is that Batuu, the planet where the theme park land takes place, is on the edge of known space. It's hardly been at the center of galactic conflict. As such, the person who made the bust likely had no idea what Luke Skywalker actually looked like, and had to make his best approximation based on the stories he or she had heard.

It's unfortunate. As much as so many people love Star Wars, Mark Hamill is one of the few people in the world that simply can't enjoy it the way the rest of us can. A place like Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge exists in part because of him, and yet, he'll never be able to visit like any other guest. Even if he could, it just doesn't all mean the same thing. Although, he can can get much better tasting blue milk at least.
