It's Official: Star Wars: Rise Of Skywalker Launches Final Trailer And Ticket Sales This Week

The Force will be strong this Monday night! Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will start selling tickets right after the launch of the final trailer this Monday, October 21 on ESPN. How's that for a vote of confidence for the trailer? It must end on a pure "Shut Up And Take My Money" moment.

Per Disney, Skywalker Saga's final trailer will debut on ESPN’s Monday Night Football this Monday, October 21st, during halftime of the NFL game between the New England Patriots and the New York Jets.

The game starts Monday at 8:15 p.m. EDT. Movie tickets will go on sale following the trailer launch.

So I'm thinking John Boyega's agent just gave everyone the wrong Monday when he said last week that the new trailer was confirmed for Monday. Or maybe they moved it. Either way, it's this Monday, October 21, and that's official from Disney.

How will the final trailer top the first one, which ended with Emperor Palpatine's laugh? Will it get even more record-breaking views? Whatever happens, someone is going to have to update this supercut combining all of the Rise of Skywalker footage so far.

I'm curious to see how high ticket sales go. I know there's a lot of frustration after Rian Johnson's Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but a lot of people did love that movie. It also made more than $1.3 billion at the box office, per Box Office Mojo. Plus, The Rise of Skywalker marks the end of the nine-film Skywalker Saga. I have a hard time believing even cynics won't want to see how it all ends. After all, Mark Hamill's Luke Skywalker and Carrie Fisher's Leia are returning, even after Luke's death in The Last Jedi and Fisher's untimely death in real life. (Is there any chance at all of seeing Han, or is that a pipe dream?)

Plus, director J.J. Abram apparently has a mind-blowing final shot to Episode IX and I'm still very curious how he's going to end the saga. There is meant to be a definitive ending for the Skywalker Saga, even if Star Wars continues in other directions on the big and small screens.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker opens in theaters on December 20, and we may have just learned the runtime. The movie stars Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Anthony Daniels, Naomi Ackie, Domhnall Gleeson, Richard E. Grant, Lupita Nyong’o, Keri Russell, Joonas Suotamo, Kelly Marie Tran, with Ian McDiarmid, and Billy Dee Williams.

Keep up with everything still heading to the big screen this year with our 2019 movie release date schedule. Will you be buying Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker tickets on Monday night? Waiting a bit? Are you not planning to see it at all?
