Subscribe To Marvel Fans Theorize Endgame’s Hero Rat Appeared In Another Movie Updates
Paul Rudd as Ant-Man

The marvel Cinematic Universe is on a bit of a hiatus at the moment, as we're in the interim moth between phases. Phase Three got a massive conclusion with Avengers: Endgame, while Spider-Man: Far From Home revealed how Earth moved on since The Blip brought back half the population. The good guys were able to win largely due to the Time Heist, which was thought up by Scott Lang. Ant-Man was rescued from the Quantum Realm when a rat accidentally activate his Portal, and now fans think they may have seen said rat in the MCU before.

The mid-credits scene of Ant-Man and The Wasp revealed where Scott, Hope, and the gang were during Thanos' snap. It turns out that Ant-Man was in traveling in the Quantum Realm when Thanos wiped out half the galaxy, results in the Pym/van Dyne family being reduced to dust. Scott was trapped in the Quantum Realm for a whopping five years, before a rat freed him. Now one Marvel fan thinks he spotted the same heroic rodent in another movie, Scott Lang's debut Ant-Man. Check it out below.

The rats from Reddit

There was a rat prominently featured in Ant-Man. And considering how the same rodent ultimately saved Ant-Man (and in tern, the world) in Avengers: Endgame, fans are hoping this is more than a coincidence.

This image comes to us from Reddit, which is constantly the source for new Marvel-related content. This includes fan theories, with new ones arriving just about every day as the fans wait patiently for the begin of Phase Four. And that includes theories revolving around the rodents of the massive shared universe. Because really, why should that heroic rat be left out of the conversation?

Of course, there are some holes in this rat-related theory. Namely, the 5-year time jump that took place between Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. This macguffin helped move the storytelling forward, as years went by with half the population gone. But this would also seemingly disprove the theory about the same rat appearing back in Ant-Man. After all, they only live about 2-3 years.

The events of Peyton Reed's Ant-Man took place in the year 2015, when Scott Lang was put on parole following a stint in prison. That's when Rat #1 appears for the first time in the MCU. That appearance wasn't particularly exciting, and it seems very unlikely that it managed to survive until Endgame. After all, that movie's time jump puts the MCU's year at 2023

Still, a rat saving Scott Lang might be a subtle hint at the character's origin story. The MCU has brought serialized storytelling to the masses, and there are always plenty of easter eggs, crossovers, and references happening. And while the directors and writers of Endgame weren't involved in the production of the Ant-Man movies, Scott Lang and his supporting characters did become a huge part of the narrative for the fourth Avengers flick.

Ant-Man being saved by a rat in Endgame was a surprisingly simple way to bring Ant-Man out of the Quantum Realm, one that was fitting for the quirky hero. While Tony Stark was given a spectacle when Captain Marvel appeared in space, Scott Lang got a decidedly more toned down entrance. Although we don't know what ever happened to that special rat.

It should be interesting to see when Ant-Man's threequel becomes official, and when it might hit theaters. Comic book fans are also no doubt wondering how closely it'll relate to the comics, which you can catch up on here.

Phase Four of the MCU will kick off with Black Widow on May 1st, 2020. In the meantime, check out our 2019 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.
