See Tom Hiddleston And Charlie Cox Trade Marvel Roles For Halloween

Loki and Daredevil

Today is Halloween, and if you go out tonight and/or this weekend, you’re likely to see plenty of people dressed up as Marvel heroes. But what if you already play a Marvel character onscreen. Do you just wear your character costume for the holiday? Not if you’re Tom Hiddleston and Charlie Cox you don’t. The actors, who play Loki and Daredevil, respectively, opted to trick and treat fans with a surprise as they traded Marvel roles for Halloween. Take a look:

That's incredible. Tom Hiddleston and Charlie Cox look to be having a grand time; grinning, laughing and looking considerably less cool than they do onscreen, but just as charming. This Halloween character swap took place outside the stage door of the Broadway play Betrayal that they both star in alongside actress Zawe Ashton.

It must have been quite the pleasant surprise for the fans waiting outside to not only see the stars of the play all dressed up for Halloween, but to see the duo nod to their iconic roles with these costumes. They could have dressed as anyone, including their own Marvel characters. But the swap is particularly fun, giving us something of a glimpse of what Loki Odinson would look like as the Man Without Fear, and what Matthew Murdock would look like as the God of Mischief.

Of course, the two didn’t exactly swap their screen outfits. They went for costumes that were considerably cheaper, making the whole thing a lot more fun. You can get a better look at the costumes below.

Charlie Cox certainly has the look of mischief about him, and his Loki looks to have taken a cue from Steve Rogers and copied his brother’s beard. Tom Hiddleston can’t hide that Loki grin though, showing us a Matt Murdock that we rarely saw in the late, lamented Netflix series: one that smiles. That contrast between the personalities of Charlie Cox and Tom Hiddleston’s Marvel characters just adds to the fun here.

As you can imagine, seeing these two fan favorite Marvel actors like this proved to be quite the hit on the internet, with Twitter users declaring that the horned duo have won Halloween. Check it out:

Tom Hiddleston and Charlie Cox weren’t the only two who dressed up. Their Betrayal co-stars also got in on the fun with Zawe Ashton dressing up as Captain Marvel and Eddie Arnold as Captain America. You can watch them come out the stage door and sign autographs for fans in the video below.

This event naturally brought out those who are still hoping to #SaveDaredevil. The Marvel Netflix shows, including Daredevil, have been cancelled, meaning that chances are extremely slim that we’ll ever see Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock in the big screen MCU that Tom Hiddleston’s Loki was such a pivotal part of.

But fans have never given up hope, and both Charlie Cox and Kingpin actor Vincent D’Onofrio have remained ardent champions of the show. Marvel isn’t slowing down, so maybe there’s a chance one day for Charlie Cox’s Daredevil to be born again. As for Tom Hiddleston, he is actually going into the small screen realm in his Loki series on Disney+.
