Fast And Furious: Looks Like Justice For Han Is Coming With F9

F9 Han returns to the clubhouse

“Justice Is Coming.” Three words ended the trailer for F9 with a loud, satisfying bang; and it’s all because that first look at the ninth Fast and Furious film looks like it’s about to deliver on the long standing promise of #JusticeForHan. And who better to make it happen then the man himself, as Sung Kang has officially returned to the franchise.

Don’t believe us? Check out the F9 trailer for yourself below, and revel in all of its glory.

During today’s Road To F9 festival in Miami, the long teased trailer for director Justin Lin’s fifth film in the newly titled Fast Saga dropped in front of an eager crowd. And just when you thought the revelation that John Cena’s Jakob was not only the new baddie, but Dom’s little brother, wasn’t enough of a shocker, Han Lue strolled back into the clubhouse, ready to rock and ruin.

It’s been a long time coming, as Han’s death in 2006’s The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift has weighed on the souls of Fast Saga fans for over a decade. But in the timeline of the series, the fallen comrade has technically only been dead since the end credits teaser for 2013’s Fast and Furious 6. The weirdness of the timeline aside, it looks like those years of holding out for justice have paid off.

It couldn’t have happened too soon either, as Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw had a lot of folks asking the creative team behind the Fast Saga just why Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw was being welcomed into the family so willingly, considering he was Han’s would be murderer and all. Now that our supposedly fallen friend is alive and well, we have to wonder if maybe, just maybe, Deckard isn’t the cold blooded murderer some still want to make him out to be.

Or, and this is just a question we ask in the name of sanity and retroactive continuity, could F9 be introducing another Lue brother into the picture? We never hear Han’s name uttered in the trailer for the film, so there’s still an outside chance that this quarter mile at a time soap opera is going to deliver justice not through the man who died, but the family he left behind.

Yes, we’ve seen folks come back to life in the series, like Letty in Fast and Furious and Owen Shaw in The Fate of The Furious, so having Han back in the flesh isn’t impossible. But it’s a question that needs to be considered in this early phase of marketing hype.

We’ll find out soon enough, as justice is coming in F9, and Sung Kang’s Han looks like he hasn’t lost a minute of drive time. Blazing into the final moments of the film’s trailer, all bets truly are off when it comes to what we’re about to see take place. With John Cena as a younger Toretto brother, and Han’s return now on the table, maybe we will get to see Helen Mirren whip ass in a sports car of her own.

F9 explodes into theaters on May 22nd; but if you’re looking for some action in the meantime, head to our 2020 release schedule to see what’s in theaters between now and then.
