And while fans can’t wait to see another Deadpool movie, Reynolds returned to the big screen with Free Guy opposite Jodie Comer. And after hitting #1 at the box office, Reynolds thanked his wife Blake Lively for her help on the new project.

As far as Hollywood power couples go, Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively are definitely at the top of the list. Recently Reynolds revealed how his wife often helps when he’s writing projects, although she’s almost never credited for the work. But that’s changed with Free Guy, as the multihyphenate shared his appreciation for Lively with a post on social media. Check it out below,

Ryan Reynolds' post for Blake Lively

How sweet is that? It looks like Blake Lively really helped in the process of making Free Guy a reality for Ryan Reynolds. What’s more, he’s giving his wife the credit for the wild cameo that the internet is currently atwitter about.

The above image comes to us from Ryan Reynolds’ Instagram story. He took to social media while celebrating how Free Guy is currently the #1 movie in theaters. But rather than simply posting his W, Reynolds also took the to thank those who made the bonkers project into a reality. That’s especially true for his talented wife Blake Lively.

In his caption, Ryan Reynolds specifically gives Blake Lively credit for the wild cameo that occurs in Free Guy. While the movie has plenty of easter eggs for moviegoers, they were shocked when Captain America actor Chris Evans appeared as himself in the midst of the video game adventure. It sounds like Lively conceptualized this funny moment, and those who have seen Free Guy definitely owe her a debt of gratitude for the gag.

As previously mentioned, Ryan Reynolds spoke to the collaborative relationship he has with Blake Lively when he’s in the midst of writing. It sounds like she’s a great soundboard, who is able to volley and pitch ideas to her husband. As he previously put it,

I write on a lot of my movies. It's been a survival mechanism for me for a long time. Sometimes I'm credited, sometimes I'm not… There's a lot of A++ writing that I've done that was actually Blake — that Blake would jump in, grab the keyboard, and 'What about this?' And I'd be like, 'That's incredible.'

Ryan Reynolds also went in to say that he believed the lack of credit that goes Blake Lively is due to “inherent sexism.” But the cats out of the bag now, it seems that Reynolds is truly grateful for Lively’s contributions. And he’s giving her credit for one of Free Guy’s biggest gags.

Free Guy is in theaters now. Be sure to check out the 2021 movie release dates to plan your next movie experience.
