Will Zombieland Scribes Bring Deadpool To Theaters?

One of this years biggest box office suck fests was X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but its one saving grace was Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson. I refuse to refer to him as “Deadpool” because the handling of the character by the filmmakers can only be described as rape. Reynolds is still enthusiastic about the character though, and it looks like we're getting some big news about the Merc with the Mouth's solo career.

Cinematical picked up a story from CHUD in which they claim to have an inside source which has given them the news that Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, genius scribes behind this summers zom-com hit Zombieland, have been tapped to pen Deadpool's next adventure. With Deadpool as one of the most sarcastic characters to ever graced the paneled page, Reese and Wernick's inherent wit should play very nicely with him should this unconfirmed rumor pan out. And make no mistake dear reader, this is still very much a rumor despite how hopeful we may be.

X-Men Origins: Wolverine tried its damnedest to sink the already floundering Fox film division, but making this addition to the Deadpool production will be the first good decision they've made since at least 2004. Maybe, just maybe, this will be the shot in the arm Fox needs to get back on track.
