Adam Brody, Allison Janney, Catherine Keener On Board For The Oranges

TV fans, brace yourselves: there's about to be some weird mixing of characters and shows that will probably creep you out. Yes, I know Hugh Laurie and Leighton Meester are not, in fact, Dr. House and Blair Waldorf, but I challenge you to remember that when you see the two of them making out in The Oranges, a new indie dramedy that starts shooting in New York at the end of this month.

Yes Laurie, who stars on House, and Meester, who is the Queen Bee of Gossip Girl, will be at the center of the romantic scandal in The Oranges-- she's the daughter of his family friend, after all. THR announced today that more cast has been added to gawk at the spectacle, including Adam Brody as Laurie's son who also has a thing for Meester, Alia Shawkat (a.k.a. Arrested Development's Maeby) as his sister, and Allison Janney as Meester's mom, who presumably is as skeeved out as everyone else.

Of course, a relationship between an older man and a younger woman he may well have known since she was a child can be weird-- but Hugh Laurie is a total fox, and I can totally see an early-twentysomething going for him. The Oranges script has been floating around Hollywood for a while, and topped 2008's Black List of best unproduced screenplays.
