Jay Baruchel And Seann William Scott's Goon Gets A New Trailer And Distribution Deal

The Toronto International Film Festival is in full swing up in Canada and according to Cineplex hockey is a big part of it. Three films about the aggressively Canadian sport have premiered at the festival, most notable among them Goon, co-written Knocked Up and The Sorcerer's Apprentice star Jay Baruchel and Superbad co-writer Evan Goldberg.

Goon follows a bouncer who gets recruited to a minor league hockey team with the express job of fighting with players on the opposing team. Seann William Scott steps into the lead as Doug Glatt, supported by Baruchel himself, Scott Pilgrim’s Allison Pill, and Liev Schreiber, who plays the biggest, hardest hitting player in the game. Cineplex has a brand new trailer for the film that should give you a pretty good idea of what to expect--a meat head getting in fights and being hilarious. Scope it out.

The film has been picked up at the festival for US distribution by Magnet, who put out last year’s Sundance darling Monsters, 13 Assassins, and Troll Hunter. The genre arm is keeping itself busy, so don’t be surprised if you hear that it’s picked up another film by the end of TIFF. Goon will find its way to VOD early in 2012.
