Alfred Hitchcock movies almost always had memorable poster designs, fro the brilliance of Saul Bass' Vertigo design to the illustration of Tippi Hedren under attack for The Birds, his film has a special place in the history of film art.
Fair or not, this puts a degree of pressure on the upcoming Sacha Gervasi movie Hitchcock, a biopic about the director during the time he was making Psycho. The first teaser piece came a couple weeks ago, which was interesting and subtle (the placement of the knife is a nice touch), but it was nothing too special. Now the theatrical poster is online, and at the very least has a lot more going on.
The new one-sheet was posted over at Entertainment Weekly, and it looks like they've gone for a more complex version of this poster, which was made when Psycho was in theatrical release. Check out the Hitchcock piece below and see it full size over at EW.
Based on the book "Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho" by Stephen Rebello, the film centers on the love story between the master of suspense (Anthony Hopkins) and his wife/partner, Alma Reville (Helen Mirren). The stacked cast includes Scarlett Johansson as Janet Leigh, Jessica Biel as Vera Miles, and James D'Arcy Anthony Perkins, as well as Michael Stuhlbarg, Toni Collette, Ralph Macchio and Danny Huston. Hitchcock will be the opening night film of this year's AFI Fest, and will get a limited release on November 23rd from Fox Searchlight. To see more from the movie head over to our Blend Film Database.
