Lincoln Featurette Gives Fans A 20-Minutes Look Behind The Scenes

Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln has been a juggernaut on every level. It has collected multiple nominations from every major guild and critics’ group, from the Broadcast Film Critics Association to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and – of course – the Academy. Certain pundits view it as a frontrunner in the Best Picture race, while audiences have rallied the film’s gross to roughly $153 million.

Normally, Lincoln supporters would have to wait months for the film’s DVD in order to experience and enjoy behind-the-scenes features explaining the intricate making of the film. But DreamWorks knows that we live in an instant-gratification society, and so they have posted “Lincoln: An American Journey” on Apple iTunes for fans to download. The 20-minute special will also be aired on television on Sunday, Jan. 20, on CBS at 9 a.m. PST.

The special gives audiences a rare view behind the scenes of a movie that’s still competing in the Oscar race … and those who track the annual march toward the Academy Awards understand that features such as this can only helps voters remember how much craft and passion went into the making of the historical drama (and maybe vote for it in the Best Picture or Best Director categories).

Spielberg’s acclaimed film stars Daniel Day-Lewis as our 16th president, petitioning hard for the passage of a landmark amendment to end slavery. The movie co-stars Sally Field, David Strathairn, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, James Spader, Hal Holbrook and Tommy Lee Jones, all of whom stop by this interesting behind-the-scenes clip, which is worth a download.
